Up Against The Wall

"Who said that it's better to have loved and lost?"

I know people who actually think it's better to have loved and lost than not have loved at all. And I sit here thinking, why?

Why would you want to torture yourself with the memories of what you once had? To be reminded of the feel of their skin under your fingers, to miss the slow curve of their lips at the beginning of a smile, to remember the ring of their laughter at that lame joke of yours, to revive the butterflies in your tummy when your body fits close to theirs?

Is that what you really want?

If it were up to me, facing all that heartache, I would rather not have loved at all.
