Initially, I was very "Meh" about it cuz KayKay couldn't go and I was thinking to myself, y'know, since I've already seen them live once before (back at MTV World Stage) I guess I'll just pass. And taking into consideration my ever growing mountain of assignments and exams looming close, plus being super dehydrated and exhausted from the concert.. It kind of doesn't make sense!
But then my cousin Michelle said that if I wasn't gonna go, her mom's not gonna let her go either. To make things worse, she invited two of her friends. Two! Which means if I'm not going, I would be letting down three fourteen year old girls. And what kind of selfish bitch does that?
So go only lah.
When we got there at 4.30pm, the line was horrendously long. Luckily for us, we bumped into NatNat and Ken and Dila, and then just casually, cut in. Haha
And so after waiting for about an hour and a half, the girls were starting to get a little bit tired, and annoyed. Imagine Nat waiting since 3pm! Dedication, I tell you. Or maybe just kiasu-ness? Whatever it was, it paid off well because we got really good places once we managed to get into the concert arena.
Y'know, one thing I really hate about going to concerts are the people attending. Not all of them are obnoxious, but it's almost inevitable that you would not bump into those gila babi rempit assholes (henceforth known as GBRA, or G-Bra) who would definitely ruin the concert experience for you. Even before we got into the concert arena, there were already some of those idiots trying to push their way in and therefore squashing those in front of them.
It's so fucked up la. I agree with what Louis said on his post about MTV World Stage, we should totally have a separate area for these idiots.
Anyway, we waited for super duper long. The stated time for the concert to begin was 6pm, which was why there we people bothering to line up since probably 2pm. But because it's Malaysia, they only kicked things off at 7pm. Typical.
Disagree came up first. They were okay, I guess. I mean, I don't know their songs except for Suicide Note and Crumbs, so it's not like I can critique them. I love Crumbs though. Such a beautiful song.
They brought on KLDC as well. Which was pretty awesome la, I love rhythm. But I suck at it. Shh!
Another thing I really hate about concerts are the insanely long intermission time. Like, hurry up lah! Everyone was so impatient and tired of standing by that point, there were people fainting around us. Plus, it was starting to drizzle. But that was good, actually. It was soooo hot in being in the middle of the crowd that having cool droplets of water landing on your skin was almost akin to nirvana.
Pop Shuvit came on next.
Moots! put on a great performance, as usual. Him and his hyperactive antics and his blinged-out Yes We Can! tee. Pop Shuvit's set was pretty awesome. Perfect headbanging list of songs. However, Michelle and her friends (they're American) were going WTF?! the entire time. This is the result of not knowing how to speak Malay. I asked one of them, Emma, if she understood Malay and she was like "Sorta." I think that kind of sucks, seeing as how Malaysia actively tries to get everyone to understand Malay so much that pretty much EVERYTHING is in BM. That's so not fair to foreigners like Emma and Reese!
After that was One Buck Short, but no pictures from that set, cuz I was busy being pissed off at the GBRAs. Like what the fuck right, people enjoying the concert, then suddenly this whole bunch of under-educated losers come pushing their way through the crowd. I'm trying to be as objective as I can about this, but it's hard when they bully everyone around them. Hello, the reason we lined up under the hot sun is to be able to get as close to
Not only that, with the way they're behaving, dancing like crazy and jumping up and down, it's not hard to believe that these guys were on some sort of high. With most of them being taller than we were, it would be pretty stupid for us girls to pick a fight with them. But some of the guys there were more than willing to beat on them, actually. They were getting quite pissed off at the GBRAs cuz they were practically pushing anyone who got in their way and one of them got pretty close to their girlfriends.
SEE!! That's why we girls need protective boyfriends. *I want one too*
Anyways. Bottomline is, those assholes completely ruined the concert for me. Kind of made me feel like I never want to go to a free concert ever again.
But as usual, the All-American Rejects kept us waiting for a loooong time, then proceeded to tear up the stage and blow our minds! So what if Tyson's a little too flamboyant for most Malaysian, the man sure can put on a show. And that sexy accent coupled with suggestive words, ooh-la-la.
In the spirit of Halloween, Tyson turned up as a Native American! Sho kuit can die. Appalling though, cuz there were some (I'm pretty sure they are) fourteen-fifteen year old girls screaming "I wanna I wanna I wanna fuck Tysonnnnn!!!!"
Kids these days, they grow up so fast. Do they even know the implications of sex?!?! But that's another rant for another day lah.
You can see the other pictures on Facebook, because I'm just too damn lazy to upload them.
Also, I got to meet the man himself, Tyson! Suck that, you people who caught drumsticks (although I'm secretly pretty jealous).
