Tested & True

This semester, in an inspired movement to give us sleepless nights, my lecturers incorporated pop quizzes into their courses. Of course, everyone knows that pop quizzes are supposed to well, POP! out whenever the students are least expecting it. Pop quizzes are, supposed to keep students on their toes all the time, fearfully expecting the fat balding lecturer (not that we have any!) (kiss ass kiss ass) to happily announce "Did you guys study? No? YOU'RE SCREWED! There's a pop quiz today!!"

I swear, when our lecturer for Intro to Psych first told us that we will be having three pop quizzes throughout his course, everyone groaned. I mean, it's not exactly the best news ever. Then from that particular lecture onwards, we went to class wondering if there was going to be a pop quiz. I don't know about the rest of the class, but I would actually take time out from my precious weekend down time to go to the library to study. I mean yeah, I had ulterior motives *snigger* but for the most part, I was studying.

So every Monday and Wednesday, we would enter class feeling all anxious, and we'd remain that way till our lecturer announces that there would be NO quiz that day (this is when everyone starts cheering). I've been studying consistently, and our first pop quiz happened after I started being a nerd (haha). It was okay for me, but everyone freaked out. But being such a nice person (self-praise is all the praise you'll ever need. Remember that.), I let my friends copy my answers. But seeing as it's me, a person who sucks horrifically at exams, I'm not sure if I was actually of any help.

But after that point, where everyone complained to the lecturer, and started off every lecture by pestering him with questions like "Sir, today got pop quiz ah?", my lecturer got so sick of the questions that he would actually tell us when he was planning to give us a quiz. And I'm like "D: but whyyyyyy?! Where's the fun in that?!"

I know, I'm such a pain in the ass.

And my other lecturer (she's a nice lady, I like her!) will go all coy and said "Study over the weekend ah. I might give you the pop quiz next week!" And I'm like, Then how is that popping?!

Seriously, isn't the point of having pop quizzes to motivate you to study consistently? I mean, if you even give a damn about your grades, naturally you would study right? But since most of us are bums in that sense, we opt to relax for the entire semester, and cram like crazy a week before finals.

Don't give me that look, I know you do it too!

But since I really do care about my grades (now more than ever), I really attempt to study every weekend. Unless I'm feeling lazy or sick, then I give myself the day off. That's not too bad, I think. Ahem.

But like, it's called a pop quiz for a reason! When the lecturers say "I'll might be giving you a pop quiz next week!", most probably they will. Unless the lecturers say that just to fuck with our minds......
